Shipping & Freshness

How we get corn to you fresh

Sweet corn starts trading sugar for starch the moment it's picked. Everything about how we ship is built around that clock:

  • Same-day everything. Your corn is picked, hand-sorted, chilled to pull out the field heat, and packed cold with ice packs in an insulated box — all on the day it ships.
  • We ship Monday–Wednesday only. A box shipped late in the week risks spending a weekend in a warehouse. Ours never do.
  • Order by 2:00 PM Eastern on a ship day and your box leaves the farm that same afternoon. Order after 2 PM Wednesday and it ships the following Monday.
  • Far from Indiana? Checkout only offers faster shipping. If UPS Ground can't reach you in about two days, you'll only see expedited options (like 2nd Day Air). It costs more, and it's the reason your corn arrives sweet instead of sorry.
  • You pay exactly what UPS charges us. Shipping is calculated live at checkout from our discounted UPS rates, with no markup. Tip: the two-dozen box spreads one shipping charge across twice the corn.

When your box arrives

Get the corn into the refrigerator right away, husks on. It's best within a few days — boil 3 minutes, butter optional. Corn person with a freezer? Blanch and freeze a batch; one of our customers eats Sweeter Corn all winter that way.

Our guarantee

Sweet corn is perishable, so we can't accept returns — but if anything about your box isn't right, email brant@sweetercorn.com and we'll make it right. We've been doing this for fifty years; we're not going to let one box ruin it.

Proof it works: the box we sent Dave Portnoy sat unopened for two days. It still scored a 9.6.
